Greater Noida: A 46-year-old man died after allegedly consuming poison in Greater Noida’s Dankaur, police said on Saturday.

Police said a case of abetment of suicide has been registered against his friend following a complaint filed by the victim’s wife.

According to police, on Friday, the victim, a property dealer, was rushed to a hospital by his family members in a critical state, where he died during the treatment. Police said they were alerted by the hospital, and the body was sent for post-mortem.

A purported video recorded by the man has also surfaced on social media where he claimed to be the victim of a financial dispute and blamed a person for his condition. HT could not independently verify the video’s authenticity.

“There was a property dispute involving around 24-25 lakh. The victim had sold a plot along with his friend but allegedly did not receive the commission,” said Munendra Singh, station house officer of Dankaur police station.

Police are searching for the suspect, and no arrest has been made in connection with the case so far.
