Prayagraj: ₹25,000 reward declared on five accused of June 10 Atala violence

The Prayagraj Police declared a bounty of ₹25,000 each on five persons wanted in connection with the violence and arson that rocked the Atala area after Friday prayers on June 10.

Prayagraj Police on Monday declared a bounty of ₹25,000 each on five persons wanted in connection with the June 10 violence and arson that had rocked the Atala area after Friday prayers. These include leftist leader Dr Ashish Mital, councillor Fazal Khan, AIMIM district president Shah Alam, AIMIM leader Zeeshan Rehmani and activist Umar Khalid.

SSP Prayagraj Ajay Kumar said a reward of ₹25000 each has been declared for the arrest of the five accused who are evading arrest right since the June 10 incident. Despite being warned they have failed to surrender, he added. (FOR REPRESENTATION PURPOSE)

Police officials have also explained about legalities of police “encounter” and payment of the reward amount only after a proper enquiry in case the accused are injured or are killed in the communique issued in this regard.

It is worth mentioning that a non-bailable warrant had earlier been issued against the five accused and Prayagraj Development Authority had also recently put up a show-cause notice outside the house of AIMIM district president Shah Alam informing that the house had been constructed in violation of norms.

After violence at Atala, an FIR was lodged at Khuldabad police station against 70 named persons under CLA Act, JJ Act, Explosives Act, damage to public property Act, 120 B and other serious sections of the IPC.
