GORAKHPUR Police personnel stationed at 26 police stations near the Indo-Nepal border in six districts, including four in eastern Uttar Pradesh, will undergo transfers every six months.
This new system was introduced by ADG Zone Akhil Kumar on Monday, aiming to prevent any potential relationship between personnel and smugglers or anti-social elements active in the border regions.
ADG Zone Akhil Kumar confirmed that a letter to this effect has been sent to the Superintendents of Police in the four districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh that border Nepal.
Officials have said that 26 police stations across four districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh will fall under the purview of this new system. Elaborating on the police stations and the corresponding districts in the Gorakhpur Zone, they mentioned that seven police stations in Maharajganj district, including Nichloal, Thuthibari, Newtown, Sunauli, Kulhi, Persamalik, and Bargadva; five police stations in Siddharthnagar district, including Mohna, Kapil Vastu, Lotan, Shohrat Garh, and Deburahuva; five police stations in Bahraich, including Rupaidiha, Sujouli, Nawabganj, Motipur, and Murtihani; and seven police stations in Balrampur District, including Jarwa, Tulsipur, Gainsari, Pachperwa, Hariya, Malhipur, and Sirsiya, will come under the new system.
Officials have suggested that after the confession of Pakistani woman Seema Haider, who entered India through the Khunkhiva Border in Sidharthnagar district, and the apprehension of several other foreigners attempting to enter India through the open Indo-Nepal Border, the secretary in the ministry of home affairs stressed the need for a joint operation involving SSB Jawans and civil police to prevent such incidents.

{{/usCountry}}Although officials are yet to confirm it, sources suggest that an inquiry has been initiated against SSB Jawans deployed on duty at the Khukhiva Border between May 12th and 15th for alleged dereliction of duty, which facilitated Seema Haider’s entry into India on May 13th, along with her four children.
Shakti Singh, an SSB officer deployed at the border, indicated that a high-level inquiry has been initiated after a recent visit by SSB commanding officer RK Dongra.
Meanwhile, security measures at the open border have been further tightened. Metal detectors and CCTV cameras have been installed, and thorough checking of identification papers for every person crossing the border is being conducted.
SP Siddharthnagar, Amit Kumar, said that both police personnel and SSB jawans are on high alert, maintaining close surveillance in the border areas.
