Pune: A Pune court remanded a man to police custody until May 8 for allegedly attempting to sexually assault his granddaughter in the Parvati area.

The accused was produced before Special Judge MG Chavan on Wednesday. Police informed the court that the accused had called the girl to his room, stripped her, and attempted to assault her.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Arundhati Brahme argued for a three-day police remand, stating that a medical examination of the accused is essential in connection with the crime. Furthermore, investigators are probing whether the accused had committed similar acts in the past.
Police inspector (crime) Anita Hiwarkar, the investigating officer, briefed the court on the progress of the case.
Advocate AA Jivane, representing the Legal Services Authority, appeared for the accused.
