According to the police, the two aspirants might have taken these medicines to enhance their physical ability during the recruitment test to improve their chances of selection.

While the police constable recruitment test began on January 3, one of the candidates informed the police on Saturday that someone had called him and offered medicines to enhance his physical capability during the recruitment test but he had refused all such advances. Tracing the mobile number in question, the police raided a private cottage in Naik aali and found two aspirants and one trainer in a room along with two Nurokind Gold injections, three unspecified bottles, five Omega VIT CE tablets, three Nipro syringes, one hypodermic syringe of Dispovan, six needles’ packets of Dispovan (44D), one red coloured capsule, two 32 NA Dispovan needles and one syringe of BDU40 Insulin.

Somnath Gharge, superintendent of police at Raigad, said, “One of the candidates had given the recruitment test on January 7 while the recruitment test of the other candidate was scheduled on January 8. The third person is the trainer of both these candidates. As of now, we have not registered any case against them but after getting detailed reports from the labs, we will decide on the further course of action.’’ Gharge said that as of now, they have not rejected the candidature of these aspirants. Gharge has also instructed the police to retrieve all mobile call details of the trainer to find out how many candidates he approached for the supply of these medicines.

In the wake of this incident, the Raigad police have initiated ‘random search’ operations at various cottages, lodges and hotels where these candidates are putting up during the police recruitment test. The recruitment staff have been instructed to tighten the scrutiny of aspirants. The Raigad police have appealed to all candidates appearing for the police constable recruitment test to refrain from consuming all such medicines and illegal substances to enhance their physical capacity during the recruitment test. The Raigad police have warned against such illegal substances and said that they will not be tolerated anymore and that strict action will be taken against candidates found using them.

In a related incident, the Nanded police on the same day found one of the candidates using suspicious medicine during a police recruitment test. The Nanded police immediately rejected the said person’s candidature and sent his blood samples to the forensic science laboratory. These back-to-back incidents of unauthorised medicines being used to enhance physical capacity during police recruitment tests are creating challenges for the police.
