Major fire breaks out at NIBM director’s bungalow on campus

The fire rapidly spread through portions of the residence and gutted one bedroom and one hall before being brought under control

A major fire broke out at the official residence of the director of the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) in Kondhwa Khurd area during the early hours of Monday, causing extensive damage to parts of the bungalow, officials from the fire department said.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert and launched an operation to contain the flames.

The firefighting operation was carried out by driver Swapnil Kamathe and firemen Sagar Dalvi, Nilesh Wankhede, Harshad Yewale, Harsh Khade and Sandeep Kawde.

“The fire incident was reported inside the NIBM campus during the early hours on Monday. The exact reason behind the blaze could not be ascertained as the investigation is underway,” said Devendra Potphode, chief fire officer.

Fire officials said an assessment of the damage is being carried out.
