The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) standing committee has approved funds worth ₹6.59 crore for the project related to enclosing the garbage collection centre located in the Hadapsar Industrial Area.

Standing committee chairman Shrinath Bhimale said, “There has been a long-standing demand to enclose the garbage collection centre. Around 200 metric tonnes of garbage are processed at the facility, and waste from five zones is collected here.”
Residents had repeatedly complained about the foul smell from the open premises.
The standing committee also sanctioned ₹5 crore for the upgradation of Magar Hospital.
During the meeting, committee members also discussed the city’s air quality after the National Green Tribunal recently sought information on Pune’s air pollution levels. Bhimale instructed officials to take necessary measures to improve air quality and assured that additional funds would be allocated if required.
