Ugale, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, was serving as commissioner for sports and youth services in Pune before her new appointment. She replaces Chandrakant Pulkundwar, who has been transferred to mantralaya as secretary in the rural development department.

The transfer orders were issued by Subhash Umranikar from the state’s general administration department. According to the order, both officers have been directed to assume charge of their new postings immediately.

As divisional commissioner, Ugale will oversee administration across Pune division, which includes Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur districts. The post is considered one of the key administrative positions in western Maharashtra, particularly at a time when major infrastructure, urban development and law-and-order issues are under focus in the region.
