The Pune Zilla Parishad plans to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the district in the current financial year.

According to officials, the centres, to be set up along highways and key rural locations, will function as integrated energy hubs powered by solar energy and biogas, ensuring an eco-friendly and self-sustaining power supply.
In the first phase, EV charging stations are proposed at two locations.
Gajanan Patil, chief executive officer, Pune Zilla Parishad, said, “These model centres will not only provide EV charging facilities, but also promote renewable energy sources like solar and biogas.”
Raosaheb Kamble, grampanchayat sarpanch, Shirur taluka, said, “The initiative will benefit rural communities by bringing modern infrastructure closer to villages.”
Vikas Padhve, an electric vehicle owner from rural Pune district, said, “The decision will encourage more people in rural areas to shift towards EVs.”
