After latest revelation about former minister Abdul Sattar’s children also being disqualified for procuring fake certificates in Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) officials clarified that action against 7,880 candidates who appeared for TET was taken after a preliminary probe by Pune police, in which these job aspirants were found tampering with the final outcome.

MSCE chairman Sharad Gosavi said, during probe the arrested accused gave names of persons they have issued fake certificates to. “The police sent us a list after getting information from the accused and we verified that information. Based on the report from police, we disqualified 7,880 candidates,” said Gosavi on Monday.
The list of 7,880 candidates released by MSCE has three categories. Around 7,550 candidates, in exchange of money paid to officials and touts, increased marks in order to qualify for the exam. As many as 293 candidates procured fake certificates even as they failed the exam while 87 candidates got in touch with accused for malpractices. All these candidates have been disqualified and barred from appearing in the exam.
According to Gosavi as many as 16,705 candidates cleared TET which was conducted in January 2020 and the results were declared in August 2020.
“In 2021, an investigation by Pune cyber police found that 7,880 candidates have passed using malpractices. A list of these candidates was shared by the Pune police. We found that 293 candidates have fake certificates with them. And so in an order issued last week, we have disqualified all 7,880 candidates. As per the notification, these candidates cannot attempt the TET exam in the future,” said Gosavi.
He added that the list of these candidates is shared with the education department to identify such teachers who have passed using unfair means in the TET.
“All the teachers who have started working after passing TET by unfair means, will be identified and appropriate action against them will be taken by the education department,” said Gosavi.
