UK Investment Min inaugurates British Trade office in Pune

According to a press release released by the British Deputy High Commission, India remains a priority market for the UK

Lord Dominic Johnson, the Investment Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), inaugurated the city’s new British Trade Office (BTO) on Friday. He also met with members of the business community, including potential and current UK investors such as the Serum Institute of India, Bharat Forge, and Zensar.

“I am delighted to be in Pune. It’s great to be back in India, this time in the dynamic city of Pune to launch the BTO, which will serve as a symbol of our commitment to Maharashtra and India,” said Lord Johnson.

“From medical sciences to artificial intelligence, now is the moment to invest in the UK as we strive to be Europe’s unquestioned number one investment destination,” he added.

According to a press release released by the British Deputy High Commission, “India remains a priority market for the UK, and the Minister’s visit will help build momentum for the ongoing trade agreement negotiations between the two countries, which began this week.”

For some years, the BTO has been in Pune, liaising with the city’s numerous commercial and innovation clusters. It has provided a strong return on trade and investment victories in the manufacturing, future transportation, and technology sectors, and it continues to serve as the single point of contact for all UK-India corporate interests.

Meanwhile, Pune was the hub of Astra Zeneca and the Serum Institute of India’s collaboration to develop the Covishield vaccine, which protected millions of people around the world.
