With the Supreme Court giving leeway to state cricket associations by saying it could reassess the ‘One State One Vote’ rule, number of selectors and membership criteria, the Board of Control for Cricket in India officials are gearing up to resist majority of Lodha panel recommendations when they meet for a Special General Meeting (SGM) here on Wednesday evening.
The Apex Court had barred former officials N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah from attending the meeting on Monday and the two will stay away. The Apex Court had acted on the plea of Committee of Administrators (CoA) that said that the duo is obstructing the implementation of the recommendations.

“The Supreme Court’s decision has to be honoured and we have to stay away,” Niranjan Shah told HT.
However, it is unlikely their absence will have any positive effect. At best, the Board officials will accept what they had been willing to following their meeting on October 1 last year and that didn’t include the most controversial points like caps on age and tenure, One State One Vote rule etc.
The agenda of the meeting, which has been called by acting president CK Khanna after the one on June 26 was adjourned as the notice given was very short, will be: Conflict of Interest issue, Memorandum of Association -- that contains the rules and regulations like age and tenure caps, decision on Ombudsman as well as disbursement of funds to state bodies.
