Harper was so poor on the field that even India's Captain Cool was left fuming. When asked about some contentious decisions, MS Dhoni was blunt.

"I can only say that if the correct decisions had been made, the game would have finished much earlier and we would have been in the hotel by now."

Dismissals of Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh in the second innings were dodgy. Dhoni was given out caught against leg spinner Devendra Bishoo but TV replay showed he had overstepped the side crease and it a no-ball should have been called.

Harper has frustrated India many times in the past, none more prominent than him declaring Sachin Tendulkar out on the 1999-2000 tour of Australia, after the master batsman ducked a Glenn McGrath bouncer that did not rise as expected and hit him on the shoulder.

The poor umpiring, however, again revives the debate on the decision review system (DRS), which the BCCI staunchly opposes.

India will face Harper again, for one last time. The Australian, who has been removed from the ICC's elite panel, will stand in the final Test.

The Indian camp feels poor umpiring can't be justified because India opposes DRS.

A member asked: "How come there are hardly any such umpiring issues when it comes to series like the Ashes?"
