The prolonged row between Gayle and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) took another turn on Friday after Gayle attacked the administration, including those in his home country Jamaica, of not showing an inclination to resolve the differences and let him back into the squad.

It is no secret that Gayle and Gibson don’t see eye to eye and the batsman accused the coach of turning against him. Gayle, in a statement released through the West Indies Players Association, has threatened to quit West Indies cricket and look to further his career elsewhere unless the issue is resolved quickly.

Gibson washed his hands off the issue but clearly indicated that even someone like Gayle will have to fit into the current system focused on reviving a team down in the dumps.

“The board knows what my feeling is on the whole thing. We are trying to build a team a team that can get competitive.”
