How Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli’s wedding overshadowed Yuvraj Singh’s 36th birthday

Yuvraj Singh celebrated his 36th birthday on Tuesday but the Indian cricket team’s all-rounder was overshadowed by the wedding of current skipper Virat Kohli with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

Ever since Virat Kohli announced his marriage with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma on Monday evening, the #Virushka hashtag has flooded Twitter. On Tuesday, Yuvraj Singh turned 36 but his birthday took a backseat with only some present cricketers, former greats and cricket fans wishing the World-Cup winning cricketer. On Tuesday, social media was still pouring with congratulatory messages for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Yuvraj Singh, who was instrumental in helping India win the 2011 ODI World Cup despite battling with cancer at that time, is also remembered for hitting his six sixes in an over of English pacer Stuart Broad during a match in ICC T-20 World Championship in South Africa in 2007. Fittingly, the ICC shared the footage of that match while wishing a happy birthday to the Indian cricketer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) too acknowledged the all-rounder’s contribution by wishing him on this occasion.

And when it’s a birthday of a teammate, you can’t keep Virender Sehwag out of the picture. The former Indian opener, who has carved a niche for himself on social media with his knack for hilarious posts, came out with another gem of a tweet on Tuesday.

“A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T W X Y Z , you will find in plenty. But UV is only one rare one. Happy Birthday dear friend @YUVSTRONG12 . May your fight continue to inspire many,” wrote Sehwag in his unique style.

Former Indian middle order batsman, Mohammad Kaif with whom Yuvraj had added 106-ball 121 for the sixth wicket to help India chase down 326 against England in the final of Natwest Trophy at Lord’s in 2002, shared an image of the duo having fun in the water on this occasion. Kaif also described Yuvraj as an inseparable part of his life in his tweet.

Fellow southpaw Suresh Raina was also all praise for Yuvraj while wishing extending his wishes to the latter. “To someone who has taught us to keep fighting always. You’ve made us all proud at various stages with your powerful performances. Wishing you a very happy birthday @YUVSTRONG12 May God bless you,” Raina wrote on his Twitter handle.

Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra was not left behind in wishing the dashing Punjab batsman. Chopra conveyed his wishes in a video.
