Virender Sehwag believes that the Indian cricket team needs to flexible with the No. 4 position in the ICC World Cup 2019 and he added that the main concern should be about winning the title.
Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes that the Indian cricket team needs to flexible with the No. 4 position in the ICC World Cup 2019 and he added that the main concern should be about winning the title.
“The team will decide according to the situation. In the initial games, Vijay Shankar may bat there. But the team will be flexible. If we are thinking of winning the Cup, we should not be obsessed with such those things. Anybody in the middle-order should be ready to bat between No. 4, 5 and 6. But one of Rohit, Shikhar and Virat has to bat for a longer duration. Someone should drop anchor from one end,” Sehwag said in an interview to Times of India.

“Now that the team has been selected, we should back captain Virat Kohli and his boys. Let us all pray and wish well for the team. Unless we make mistakes, we will win. There is enough depth in the team,” he added.

The conditions in England will be quite different from that in India but Sehwag feels that the Indian players have will not find it difficult to adapt to the conditions. “I think our boys have played enough cricket in English conditions. They know their responsibilities. A champion team will not bother about batting first or second. The team should always start with a positive approach. There should not be any negativity,” Sehwag said in the interview.
India will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa, which will be played at Hampshire Bowl on June 5.
