Earlier, Marco Jansen hammered a whirlwind 26-ball fifty, completely shifting the momentum as South Africa clawed their way back into the contest and left India searching for answers. Harshit Rana brought an end to Dewald Brevis’ explosive counter-attack, dismissing the young star just when South Africa looked to build momentum. Kuldeep Yadav broke the defiant stand by dismissing Tony de Zorzi for 39, prompting a loud roar from Virat Kohli as he fired up the Ranchi crowd. Arshdeep Singh joined the wicket-taking spree by dismissing Aiden Markram, adding to South Africa’s troubles after Harshit Rana had already wreaked havoc up front. Earlier, Washington Sundar fell under pressure, bringing KL Rahul to join Kohli at the crease amid a roaring home crowd. Rohit soon found his timing, forcing Marco Jansen onto the back foot with two crisp boundaries. Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal had given India a brisk start before Nandre Burger cut his innings short, bringing Kohli to the crease alongside Rohit.
