Jon Lewis, Amol Muzumdar in running for India women's cricket coach’s post
Former women’s coach Tushar Arothe the other candidate shortlisted for interview by the Cricket Advisory Committee
Current England women's cricket team head coach Jon Lewis, India's Amol Muzumdar and former India women's team coach Tushar Arothe have been shortlisted by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for selection as the Indian team's head coach.
The CAC comprising Sulakshana Naik, Jatin Paranjpe and Ashok Malhotra will interview the three on June 30 as BCCI wants the new coach to travel with the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India team for the Bangladesh tour in July.
Lewis, 47, a former County player, was coach of UP Warrioz in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) this year. Tushar Arothe, 56, has had two stints as head coach with the women's team and was also part of WPL as batting coach of Gujarat Giants.
Muzumdar, 48, Mumbai’s prolific Ranji Trophy run-getter, guided Mumbai to the Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 title two seasons ago. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals IPL team and has coached at the National Cricket Academy.
The Bangladesh tour consists of three Women's ODIs and Women's T20Is. There are two major ICC events for the Indian women's team in the next two years -- the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ODI World Cup.
