The monkey is off Kochi Tuskers Kerala's back, who clinched their third straight victory after turning the tables on Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Knight Riders could pat themselves on the back after snapping up skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Brendon McCullum cheaply. What they didn't foresee was the same would happen to their famed batting line-up.
Seeing McCullum go after Brett Lee, skipper Gautam Gambhir introduced spin from both ends. And soon McCullum departed, going for a cut off Shakib Al Hasan. Kochi Tuskers needed Jayawardene to play a captain's knock but an unfortunate leg-before decision dashed that hope. Yusuf Pathan's delivery looked to hit his gloves before thudding on to the pads. It was Ravindra Jadeja who once again took it upon himself to take the team to a respectable score. And he kept it simple --- by hitting sixes.
Knight Riders got off to a brisk start but Jacques Kallis and Gambhir fell cheaply. The quick dismissals of Eoin Morgan and Hasan then silenced the large crowd at Eden Gardens. Pathan's dismissal after raising hopes was followed by Manoj Tiwary, who was stumped for a 51-ball 46. And that was it.
