WI-W vs IND-W Commentary

1:30 PM IST One down, one more to go - Things are heating up at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, as the sun is out in all its glory and there's one more warm-up game to follow. It will be the age-old rivalry as England Women take on Australia Women in Match 10 of the warm-ups. That game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2pm GMT), but you can simply switch tabs and catch our coverage of that game. Cheers!
1:29 PM IST India Women's captain for the day - Smriti Mandhana says that it was important for the middle order to get an eye in, and Bharti Fulmali batted really well, and the bowlers were excellent as a group. Adds that a few of the players didn't get much game time coming to England, but the likes of Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil and Bharti Fulmali showed their worth. Smriti reckons that conditions keep changing depending on where you play in England, but over the last few years, the tracks have been batter-friendly and hopes that she and Shafali Verma can continue the kind of form they showed today.
1:27 PM IST The stand-in skipper for West Indies Women - Chinelle Henry says that they have to work with their bowling department. She reckons that it was the first six overs where they failed to put pressure on the opposition, but she also says that she is happy because the bowlers worked it out and put the score under the 200-run mark. About Afy Fletcher, Henry says that she is very happy with her performance, and she hopes she carries her form into the future. She also praises Deandra Dottin for batting very well in the top order. Ends up saying that they have to make certain changes in their strategy and will come back stronger.
1:26 PM IST Let's now hear from the skippers...
1:25 PM IST Windies pay for a slow start - The opening partnership for West Indies Women was a good one as Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbelle mustered up 63 runs in the first 9 overs, before the latter was retired out. However, in a big chase, they went at just 7 runs an over, and that put pressure on whoever came in next to score quickly. Dottin played well for her 49 and there was some good ball-striking from the likes of Shawnisha Hector and Jannillea Glasgow towards the end, but it was never going to be enough as they kept losing wickets throughout the innings.
1:21 PM IST Spinners shine with the ball - It was the duo of Shreyanka Patil and Radha Yadav that really blew away the opposition in the chase. The duo ended with 7 wickets between them, with Patil ending with a four-fer. The pacers weren't great and Kranti Gaud went for plenty of runs. Sree Charani was given just two overs, but one expects her to be the lead spinner alongside Deepti Sharma come the first game of the main event.
