LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2023 Highlights: Punjab King were handed a blow even before the match with captain and batting talisman Shikhar Dhawan sustaining a shoulder injury and having to sit out. All rounder Sam Curran is leading the team in his stead and he chose to bowl first after winning the toss. While they did a good job under him with the ball, it has hardly been smooth sailing form them with the bat. After restricting LSG to 159/8, PBKS lost three wickets in the powerplay, including that of the big hitting Matthew Short. Sikandar Raza has since anchored the chase but they were struggling to keep their wickets together. Raza himself fell after scoring 57 off 41 but Shahrukh Khan then did the perfect finishing act, smashing an unbeaten 23 off 10 balls to take Punjab over the line. Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants managed to not lose any wickets in the powerplay and Kyle Mayers' big hits ensured that they got close to the 50-run mark in that period. However, Punjab Kings have since kept a check on the LSG innings and they have since struggled to get a period in the match where they have consistently managed to get some big hits going. Captain KL Rahul has scored his first half century of the season and LSG are depending on him to get them close to 180. He wasn't able to get going though, falling for a 56-ball 74 after which PBKS skipper Curran gave just seven runs in the last over.
