Steve Smith mixes it up in practice, takes up baseball training

Steve Smith posted a video on his Instagram of his net session where he was playing baseball.

Australian cricket team captain Steve Smith took a break from his routine cricket training and instead turned his hands to baseball.

Smith and his girlfriend Dani Willis are currently on a break in the United States.

Smith posted a video on his Instagram of his net session where he made clean connections batting right-handed. He then turned left-handed where he missed a few hits initially before striking it cleanly again.

Nearly a year ago, Smith had taken batting tips from Boston Red Sox all-star Dustin Pedroia. Known for his perfectionist attitude, Smith was his own critique after the friendly hit in Boston

However, judging by his latest social media post, Smith seems to have clearly improved on his swing.

Last July, Smith toured the famous Fenway Park facility and met with Boston’s all-star second baseman Pedroia. Although he send balls deep into the outfield, Smith wasn’t able to clear the park’s ‘Green Monster’ — an 11.33 metre high wall.

“He had a good swing… it was pretty cool to watch,” Pedroia was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “He looked good, anytime you can come out and hit balls like that, without doing it (regularly) it’s pretty impressive.”
