Suggestions received at the seminar will be conveyed to the state government, Upadhyay told reporters on Sunday. Leaders of all parties have been invited for the programme.

“I have talked to Uttarakhand BJP president Ajay Bhatt for sending his party’s representative to the dialogue,” Upadhyay said.

“Three acts prompted us to hold this dialogue: one, the death of a dalit farmer owing to agricultural loan, death of a dalit youth in Doon Hospital due to lack of proper healthcare, and the delivery of an infant by a woman at a bridge in Tyuni area of Dehradun.”

Backing the demand for making Gairsain as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand, the Congress leader said he had urged the Centre to provide Rs 10,000 crore for creating infrastructure at the hill town.
