Governor KK Paul administered oath to both the legislators. Bhadari is a legislator from Badrinath constituency in Chamoli district while Navprabhat represents Vikasnagar constituency in Dehradun district.

Bhandari is seen as a strong Rajput face in the Garhwal hills. Navprabhat, a Brahmin, is son of former union minister Brahmdutt.

Both the legislators stood beside chief minister Harish Rawat during political turmoil. This is the second cabinet expansion of Rawat government. Last year, the CM inducted independent MLA Dinesh Dhane in his cabinet.

“Both are former ministers and experienced legislators. Congress hopes to benefit from their experiences,” said Jot Singh Bisht, vice president, Congress.
