Suspected Pak hackers deface information department website

The homepage of the state information department’s official website was defaced by suspected Pakistani hackers on Thursday night, altering the web pages to read slogans demanding the freedom of Kashmir and Syria.

Dehradun: The homepage of the state information department’s official website was defaced by suspected Pakistani hackers on Thursday night, altering the web pages to read slogans demanding the freedom of Kashmir and Syria.

A group identified as Haxon Crews is said to be behind the hacking. Further details about the incident are currently unavailable.Deputy director (information) Anil Chandola said his team had suspended the account maintaining the website as soon as they came to know of the hacking.

Uttarakhand director general of police BS Sidhu said on Friday that the police were yet to receive details about the incident from the information technology (IT) department. It is learnt that the hackers had also defaced a site of Subharti University in Meerut, some 200 km from Dehradun.
