The recovery of a hand grenade in the city’s Litchibag neighbourhood near Dalanwala created panic among residents on Sunday, police said.

A bomb disposal squad took possession of the grenade, said an official at Raipur police station.
A police team from the police station was rushed to the spot by city senior superintendent of police Nivedita Kukreti Kumar after the district police control room received informed that a bomb-like object was lying at an abandoned site near Litchibag , he said.
“It was an old hand grenade that was used by the army personnel as a part of it periodical shooting exercise at a nearby shooting range and a police bomb disposal squad was called in and the grenade was taken away.”
A rag picker may have picked the used grenade and it may have dropped from his bag, the official said.
