Delhi University teachers will continue to boycott the university’s evaluation process till Thursday in protest against a University Grants Commission (UGC) notification they said could lead to 5,000 temporary teachers losing jobs.

The teachers have been boycotting the evaluation process since May 24 because of which DU’s undergraduate results may be delayed this year. The teachers have also threatened to boycott the admission process.

The extended executive of Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) met on Saturday and decided “to continue the boycott of evaluation till Thursday, June 16, 2016, when the general body will meet to review the situation.”

The university has written to the teachers asking them to join back the evaluation process from Sunday.

In a letter to the teachers Vinay Gupta, dean of examination, stated that nearly two weeks of evaluation work has been delayed and “any further delay can jeopardise the career of students and also adversely affect the reputation of the university”.
