No need for women to get married and have children: Jaya

Touted as one of the most successful marriages in Bollywood, Jaya Bachchan today said it would not have taken place had she not been "in love" as she believes there is no need to get married and have children.

Touted as one of the most successful marriages in Bollywood, Jaya Bachchan on Friday said it would not have taken place had she not been "in love" as she believes there is no need to get married and have children.

"I don't think it is necessary for women to marry and have children," she said, adding that one needs to think what they are bringing their children into.

"Had I not been in love, I would not have married," said the 61-year old actress, who got married in 1973.

But she maintained that it was her grandchildren who bring the maximum joy to her. "I am slave to them."
