Rooftop sections of central Delhi’s popular restaurants -- including My Bar, Lord of the Drinks, Farzi Cafe, Barbeque Nation and Boombox Cafe -- were sealed, a week after a part of a Connaught Place building collapsed.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) shut down rooftop sections of 21 open-air restaurants after concerns were raised about the safety of buildings at one of Delhi’s favourite shopping destinations.
The rooftop restaurants were running without permission for years, a senior NDMC official told HT. These 21 restaurants were issued notices by the NDMC after the roof above the iconic Jain Bookstore collapsed in CP last week. No one was injured in the incident.
Last year, the New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) had written to NDMC to cap the number of restaurants on rooftops, citing excess load on heritage structures.
