The top court said that any further extension will have cascading effect on the admission schedule fixed by the court in January 2016. As per this, NEET PG 2022 is already delayed by 4 months. The Centre said that NEET-PG 2023-24 has been fixed in January 2023 and the effort of govt is to get back on track the admission schedule that was derailed due to covid-19 for last 2 years.

SC said that any further extension will have cascading effect on the admission schedule fixed by Court in January 2016. As per this, NEET PG 2022 is delayed already by four months. The Centre submitted that NEET-PG 2023-24 has been fixed in January 2023 and the effort of government is to get back on track the admission schedule that was derailed by pandemic for last two years. The court accepted Centre's argument that already there is dearth of resident doctors in hospitals as this year there were 2 batches of PG doctors. Court felt that any relief will impact patient care and availability of doctors. It will also impact careers of 2.06 lakh doctors who have registered this year for Neet-PG 2022.
