JEE, NEET 2020 Highlights: Important developments

JEE Main, NEET 2020: The Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Main exam began on Tuesday across India, with precautions amid pandemic, despite protests by Opposition parties and some students.According to reports, before entering the exam halls, the temperature of students was checked and sanitisers were also given to them in Delhi.The JEE Main will be held between September 1-6, while the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 is scheduled for September 13.Read More| JEE Mains 2020: Important developments, students’ feedback on Day -2 The Supreme Court had earlier rejected the plea to postpone the entrance examinations. Six Ministers of opposition-ruled states approached the Supreme Court on Friday against its order of allowing NEET and JEE Main 2020 exams despite the increasing Covid-19 cases in the country. The plea has been filled by the ministers from West Bengal (Moloy Ghatak), Jharkhand (Rameshwar Oraon), Rajasthan (Raghu Sharma), Chhattisgarh (Amarjeet Bhagat), Punjab (B S Sidhu) and Maharashtra (Uday Ravindra Sawant). NTA claims that appropriate measurements have been taken to conduct the entrance examinations safely. The agency further said that over 99% of candidates have been assigned their “first choice of centre cities.”Here are the latest developments as students appeared for the JEE main exams, which commenced on Tuesday:

JEE Mains 2020: Social distancing norms followed properly at Delhi centre, says a candidate

Puneet Kaushal, 18, a resident of Haryana’s Revari, had travelled to Delhi on a Roadways bus on Monday to appear in JEE (Main). He had chosen Delhi as the centre. “I was really scared about the safety measures at the centres but when I reached here in Vivek Vihar I found everything in place. Social distancing norms were properly followed at the examination centre. We were asked to dispose of the face masks we were wearing and were given new masks. There were guards at the entry and exit points with sanitiser spray. Everyone was wearing masks inside the centre,” he said.

JEE Main 2020 aspirants undergo temperature check at UP’s exam centre

Candidates underwent temperature check at Subash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Education in Prabandh Nagar, Muburakpur that has been designated as a JEE Mains exam centre.

Candidates were given fresh masks and gloves before entering the centre.
