Minister of Human Resource Development department, Prakash Javadekar has tweeted that NTA will conduct NEET exam again for those students of Karnataka who missed their exam as their train was delayed.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for these students will be conducted on May 20, he said.

“Happy to announce that Karnataka Students who missed NEET exam due to railway delay will get another chance,” Javadekar tweeted.

Nearly 365 students from north Karnataka had missed appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on May 5, as the train in which they were travelling reached Bengaluru over seven hours late.

Candidates had staged a protest outside the railway station for missing the test for no fault of theirs after which the SWR agreed to write to the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) for re-conducting the test for them at the earliest.

One of the candidates also tweeted to HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar that the train was running behind schedule by seven hours and that they would miss the test for no fault of theirs.

The exam was also postponed in Odisha in view of the cyclone Fani. It will also be held on May 20.

“On request of the state government of Odisha, in wake of Fani cyclone the exam for candidates whose centre was in the state was postponed till further notice. It will now be conducted on May 20,” an NTA official said.
