National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-backed Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu is leading against Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha after the end of the first round of counting of votes which started at 11 am on Thursday. Celebrations began in her native village of Rairangpur in Odisha with sweets, tribal music and dance.(PTI)

Special prayers are being offered on Thursday at the famed Chinnamastika temple at Rajrappa here, recognised as an ancient Shakti seat, on Thursday for the victory of Droupadi Murmu. The results will declare on who will succeed incumbent Ram Nath Kovind to become the country's 15th President.(PTI)

Notably, the celebrations began at SLS (Shyam, Laxman & Sipun) Memorial Residential School, Pahadpur, Odisham founded by Murmu in memory of her husband and 2 sons after their demise.(PTI)

The counting is underway in Room No 63 in Parliament House and the result will be declared immediately after the counting. The immediate precincts of Room Number 63 have been declared as sanitised and "silent zone".(PTI)
