Dharwad is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Dharwad district. People of Dharwad voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Dharwad assembly constituency had 2,03,278 electors in 2018, out of which 1,02,817 were male voters and 1,00,448 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.0% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Dharwad constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Dharwad was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Amrut Ayyappa Desai won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Vinay Kulkarni by a margin of 20,340 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Amrut Ayyappa Desai got a total of 85,123 votes, while Indian National Congress's Vinay Kulkarni secured 64,783 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Tirakappa Sadeppa Jamanal (SHRIKANT) secured 1,263 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.4%, 42.2% and 0.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Vinay Kulkarni outperformed Janata Dal (Secular)'s Amrut Ayyappa Desai by 18,320 votes.
