Tamil Nadu Election: Sulur Assembly Constituency 2022

Sulur is the assembly constituency which comes under the Coimbatore district. It is one of the 232 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 for Sulur was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

Sulur assembly constituency had 2,79,722 electors in 2016, out of which 1,38,701 were male voters and 1,40,989 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.3% votes.

What happened last time

In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Sulur constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Sulur was one of 134 seats won by the Indian National Congress. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Kanagaraj R. won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Manoharan V.M.C. by a margin of 36,631 votes.

The top two candidates split 78.9% of votes between them. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Kanagaraj R. got a total of 1,00,977 votes, while Indian National Congress's Manoharan V.M.C. secured 64,346 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Mandharasalam S.D. secured 13,517 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.2%, 30.7% and 6.5% respectively.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's Thinakaran K outperformed Kongu Nadu Munnetra Kazhagam's Eswaran E R by 29,532 votes.
