Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Swapan Majumder bagged 24,384 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 49.6%, 35.2% and 13.1% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Surajit Kumar Biswas beat Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Anuj Baran Sarkar by 21,889 votes.
