west bengal assembly election 2021 constituency list

West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 will be held in eight phases between March 27 and April 26. The votes will be counted on May 2. West Bengal is expected to be a bipolar contest between Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a resurgent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The ruling TMC is looking to retain power for the third time in West Bengal and the BJP has set its eye on more than 200 seats in the 294 member assembly. Banerjee first became the chief minister of the eastern state in 2011 and was re-elected in 2016. The TMC was re-elected with 211 seats in 2016 and it had won 184 in 2011. In the last assembly elections in the state in 2016, the BJP won only three seats. However in Lok the Sabha elections in 2019, the BJP got 18 of Bengal’s 42 parliamentary seats, increasing its tally by 16. The TMC managed to win 22, down from 34 in 2019. The Congress, the Left parties and the Indian Secular Front (ISF) are fighting the West Bengal assembly elections in an alliance called 'Sanyukta Morcha’. In the 2016 assembly election, the Congress-Left combine got 76 seats.
