On guard: People who keep the Bollywood stars safe

There was a time when Bollywood actors were rarely seen in public. Once in a while, you could only see them at movie premieres.

There was a time when Bollywood actors were rarely seen in public. Once in a while, you could only see them at movie premieres. But times have changed, and spotting stars in public has become more common these days. The release of every movie is preceded by dozens of promotional events where the lead actors are generally present. At these events, stars meet the media, fans and sometimes even have public performances prior to a movie’s release. But in doing so, actors have given utmost importance to their security, especially while attending events. While most actors, male and female, go around with just one or two bodyguards, it’s the biggies who walk shrouded in thick security cover. These include Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

Other than having his own posse of bodyguards, the veteran actor is provided security by the city police force. He was in the news recently for increasing security outside his home where he meets his fans every Sunday.

Salman Khan
He arguably has the most famous bodyguard in the country –– Shera. Apart fromprotecting Salman, Shera runs his own security firm. When Salman goes for events, a car full of bodyguards reach the venue much before his appearance.

Shah Rukh Khan
The actor is provided security by the Mumbai Police and has his own bodyguards as well. Police officials dressed in civil clothes travel with the star. Ravi is someone who is seen with SRK wherever he goes, whether for trips outside the city, or movie promotions.
