Kamal Haasan does 26 pushups at the age of 67, fans call him ‘fittest actor in India’. Watch video

Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a video of 67-year-old Kamal Haasan doing 26 pushups, leading to fans applauding him for his fitness and strength.

Kamal Haasan may be approaching his 70s but the actor remains quite fit. In his latest release Vikram, Kamal performed several fight scenes convincingly. On Tuesday, the film’s director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared a throwback video from the sets where the 67-year-old actor was seen performing as many as 26 pushups. After the video was posted, fans of the actor responded with disbelief at his physical feat.

Sharing the video on Twitter on Tuesday, Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote, “@ikamalhaasan sir's video as promised... He did 26...I missed recording the initial two.” He ended the tweet with a line from the film’s popular song Once Upon A Time: “The eagle has landed”. In the video, Kamal can be seen doing pushups against a prop cannon on the film’s sets. A day earlier, Lokesh had teased the video when he posted a shorter video of Kamal’s workout and wrote, “The full video will be out tomorrow”.

Vikram is an action thriller that forms part of Lokesh’s newly-established cinematic universe. The film, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, has already earned in excess of ₹400 crore at the box office. It is Kamal’s most successful film till date and the second-highest-grossing Tamil film ever, after Rajinikanth’s 2.0.

The film is a spiritual successor to Kamal’s 1986 film of the same name, where he played a superspy. It is also connected to Lokesh’s previous film Kaithi. The franchise will now continue with Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2. Suriya, who was introduced in a cameo in the film’s climax, is the franchise’s over-arching villain.
