Prince Charles of the United Kingdom has a picture of him and his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle framed in his living room at Clarence House. New pictures shared by Clarence House, the official residence and office of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, revealed the picture that was clicked at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in 2018. The photograph was clicked when the Prince of Wales walked Meghan down the aisle ahead of her wedding to his son Prince Harry on May 19, 2018. Charles had escorted Meghan down the aisle after her father Thomas Markle could not attend the royal wedding at St George's Chapel in Windsor. A monochrome picture of the moment is on display on a side table in one of the sitting rooms at Clarence House. The table also carried pictures from christenings of Prince William and Kate Middleton's sons Prince George and Prince Louis in 2013 and 2018 respectively. It also showed a picture of Prince Harry at the Invictus Games.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry quit their royal duties and relocated to the United States in March 2020. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey a year after their exit, Harry had said that Charles had stopped taking his calls when he tried to talk to him about his decision to quit royal life. In another appearance on Apple TV+ series The Me You Can't See, the Duke of Sussex criticised Charles's parenting and said that he did not receive enough support when he was struggling emotionally in his childhood. Harry said, “my father used to say to me when I was younger, he used to say to both William and I 'well it was like that for me so it’s gonna be like that for you.' That doesn’t make sense. Just because you suffered, that doesn’t mean that your kids have to suffer.”
Prince Charles has not met Meghan Markle since her exit as a senior British royal almost two years ago. Their photograph that has been on display at Clarence House was noticed after the social media accounts of Charles and Camilla shared pictures from a royal engagement on Tuesday.
