In pics: Rahul Mishra showcases country’s craftsmanship at India Couture Week 2017

Designer Rahul Mishra showcased his collection, Parizaad, on Thursday in Delhi. The creations played with a host of embroideries that were all done by hand.

Couture that doesn’t weight you down — that seemed to be the underlying essence of designer Rahul Mishra’s collection at the ongoing India Couture Week 2017, organised by Fashion Design Council of India with Hindustan Times at its associate partner. The Woolmark Prize winner showcased his collection Parizaad on Thursday evening, which was segmented into two parts. While the first one saw calming whites, ivories and a play of pastels on saris and lightweight lehengas, the latter part had haft-rangi (seven coloured) creations on salwar-kameez and contemporary bridal outfits. Mishra is known for his love for monochromes, so the black lehenga also made its presence felt.

Mishra said that while his creations are high on handcrafted embroideries and work, they are all lightweight and most of them can be machine-washed.

Mishra said that the creations were inspired by architecture, art and travel.
