India shines in handicrafts

Indian jewellery and accessory manufacturers showcased their creations to the world.

Traditional yet contemporary, ethnic yet modern — Indian fashion jewellery and accessories depict diversity, designs, styles and techniques that complement variable tastes worldwide. And to showcase this to buyers from across the world, a confluence of Indian manufacturers and exporters took place in the capital recently.

Over 150 manufacturers and exporters displayed their products under five categories — fashion jewellery, semi precious fashion jewellery, fashion accessories, hand bags, and shoes.

“The authorities are planning to make this show an annual event... It’s a unique opportunity to display Indian capabilities and harness its business potential,” says Rakesh Kumar, executive director, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.

One of the main attractions of the show was participation by Swarovski Elements. The company had a preview show of some exclusive pieces of fashion jewellery elements designed by Indian and international designers.
