Move over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s purple lip, because Deepika Padukone’s jewel-toned green eyes are making all the noise. Here’s what beauty experts think of her look.

For her second appearance at the 70th edition of the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, Deepika Padukone decided to have some fun. Dressed in a Grecian, custom-made dress by designer Brandon Maxwell, the look was topped with a high-set bun, a neutral lip and dramatic jewel-toned eyes.

Cannes is no MET Gala, so the sartorial and beauty looks usually fall under the ‘safe’ bracket. But, like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s purple lip last year, Dippy decided to make some makeup noise with the bold eye.

Makeup expert Vidya Tikari says: “Rather than a smokey eye, I’d call it an out-swept extension. For me...I love the look! Also, even though it ‘s dramatic, it is completely do-able. People are going beyond the norm, breaking boundaries..so I think this totally works. Also, emerald is the colour of the season, so I think it is a lovely choice.”
