On Sunday, Indian women displayed this love on Twitter, sharing photos of themselves wearing nosepins of different shapes and sizes, ranging from showstopper naths to tiny, glinting nose pins the size of a dot.
It all started with a tweet by Twitter user Tanzila asking women to post pictures using the hashtag #NosepinTwitter. She shared a few pictures of herself wearing her favourite nose studs to kick the trend off. In no time, other women flooded social media with their selfies and #NosepinTwitter started to trend.
Nose pins are far from a new trend, nor a passing fad. They have always been a part of many cultures. In many communities in India, girls would get their noses pierced once they attained marriageable age or when they were getting married.
