The fashion week regulars got a whiff of spring time in Japan with Sakura blossoms and vibrant prints with designer Payal Pratap’s autumn/winter showcase on Day 3 of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2014.

The fashion week regulars got a whiff of spring time in Japan with Sakura blossoms and vibrant prints with designer Payal Pratap’s autumn/winter showcase on Day 3 of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2014.

The collection, titled Winter Blossom, was inspired by the Japanese kimono. The hand drawn prints of birds, flower bouquets and appliqué work on ecru silk were the mainstay of the showcase.

Though, the breezy spring theme predominant throughout the collection, the silhouettes and outfits were ideal for the fall/winter. Indian traditional outfits fused with silhouettes from Nippon such as saris paired with cropped kimono blouses and long tunics teamed with Samurai hakama pants were interesting.

Pratap aced the accessorizing to a tee with Obi belts, hair ornaments and sandals inspired by the Geisha like ‘Zori’ slippers.
