It’s every woman’s dream to get a haircut that guarantees a second glance. No wonder women worldwide don’t mind spending that ‘little’ extra to get a splendid haircut. Rossano Ferretti, the world’s most expensive hairdresser, who was in the Capital recently, justifies spending big bucks on a haircut almost unapologetically. The Italian hairdresser who has opened his salon, KERASTASE at The Oberoi, Gurgaon, this week, says, "Hair is definitely regarded as less important than music, architecture and painting, but I am happy that I have been able to bring the spotlight on hair."

The hairstylist, who has has 20 salons all over the world, including Madrid, Rome, and New York, says, "I select my own team and train them in Italy for six months." Ferretti charges a $1000 a haircut. "In your world, Rs 50,000 could have fetched you an iPad or an F1 premium seat, five months petrol or a designer bag. But in the world of affluence, it is barely a percentage of the latest Stella McCartney gown or a vintage bottle of French wine," he says. Ferretti also has many Bollywood actors as his clients but he wouldn’t name them to maintain the confidentiality of the clients. "I have many Indian clients in New York. Indian girls are beautiful. India has a great opportunity for this market." Ferretti, who has styled many celebrities such as Sharon Stone, Monica Bellucci, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Anjelina Jolie and Christy Turlington among others, is unapologetic about the price tag of his services.
