Honduras have remained a constant in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in recent years, but have only made the knockout rounds once. They will look to improve on that showing this year but got off to a poor start in their first game in Group E against Japan, a side that is considered a heavyweight of Asian football. Keito Nakamura scored twice to give Japan a 2-0 lead but Patrick Palacios pulled one back for Honduras. Nakamura then completed his hat-trick to restore Japan’s two-goal lead before Takefusa Kubo added a fourth. Taisei Miyashiro scored the fifth goal in beginning of the second half and Toichi Suzuki scored the sixth towards the end of the game.
