Asian heavyweights Iran beat Guinea 3-1 in their opening Group C match of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. They played against each other at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa and it was Iran who emerged victorious. Iran finished runners-up at the AFC U-16 Championship while Guinea upset the odds at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing third. In this game, Allahyar Sayyad gave Iran the lead early in the second half before Mohammad Sharifi converted a penalty to double their lead.
