The Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati witnessed a David vs Goliath battle in the opening Group E game of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. New Caledonia’s Bernard Iwa scored an own goal to give France the lead. Amine Gouiri then doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Claudio Gomes scored the third before Amine Gouiri scored another to put France on top. Maxence Caqueret scored France’s fifth goal and Kiam Wanesse scored an own goal to make it 6-0 to France at half time.
