Barcelona extended their unbeaten run in the ongoing La Liga season to 22 matches with a 1-1 draw against Espanyol, which is now a record for the club. Gerard Pique scored the equaliser for Barcelona in the 82nd minute after Gerard Moreno had put Espanoyol ahead on Sunday.

“A new record for FC Barcelona: thanks to the 1-1 draw in the RCDE Stadium the blaugranes have gone some 22 games without defeat in the league since the start of the season, a new club record,” the official website of the club informed.
“Ernesto Valverde’s team move past the record set by Pep Guardiola’s team in 2009/10 who started the season unbeaten in their first 21 matches before losing 2-1 to Atlético Madrid in week 22,” the website added.
So far in the La Liga season, Barcelona have won 18 matches and have drawn four. They are sitting pretty at the top of the La Liga points table with 58 points, nine clear of the second-placed Atletico Madrid.
“The overall club record for unbeaten matches in the league is held by Pep Guardiola’s team from the 2010/11 season who went 31 games unbeaten (from week 3 to 33) with 27 wins and four draws,” the website added.
“The record in La Liga stands to Real Sociedad who went 32 games unbeaten in the competition in the 1979/80 season,” it said, informing about the overall record.
